The ever-cute and ever-spunky Katie McBride, from the Wotch ([link]). While most pictures here took a few weeks at most to draw, Katie here took much, much longer, largely because I ended up responsible for actually drawing the comic itself for about a month in the interim. Didn't quite expect that to happen, but I'm pretty sure Anne and Robin are happy it did.
Thus while Ally was completed back in --- November 2003? December? Something like that --- I didn't finish Katie here until about a couple of weeks ago. In total, I spent about a month on her, but there was this two-month gap in the middle, you see.
Much of the extra time on Katie was spent on her hair and on her shirt. And everything here is, in fact, vector art, except for the lens flares that I added afterward for a little extra shininess. There were enough vector objects here that there are actually five .CDR files for this, since one alone would take too long to render. As it is, there were times when I'd move a point or two and then go get a drink while the program redrew the display.
Katie is, without a doubt, the best picture I've drawn to date.
By the way, the other reason that Katie took so long to draw is that I fully documented nearly everything I did while drawing her as an educational resource. So if you'd like to learn how I draw these things, visit my web site ([link]) and take a look.
Yeah, that shirt, in particular her *ahem* chest area is simply GORGEOUS!!! It's so CUTE!!!!!! AWESOME! I can't get over how cute she looks! *has spasms and dies of diabetic coma from sugar overload*!
Hee hee, thanks. But the fact that she's wearing a green plaid shirt wasn't my idea: That's what her character always wears. I just tried to draw it fairly realistically.

Do you suppose if I were to put a signature here, anyone would bother to read it? No? I didn't think so either.
Oh, it is vector art. Ninety gazillion hours (okay, in reality, it was probably only 40-ish, but who's counting?) of carefully tweaking nodes, several layers, and a massive amount of PowerClip and lenses, especially in the shirt.
In fact, the only part of it that isn't vector art is the quickie little lens flares I added right at the very end for just a little extra shine (there are five of them: Three on the text, one on her hair, and one on her pendant). They aren't really necessary for the picture, but they do look nice, and I figure spending all of February and March tweaking vector nodes followed by five minutes of lens flare effects doesn't exactly make it pixel art
I should probably go back and rework the shading on her skin and skirt, though; I think I can do better than that, knowing some things I know now.

no matter how many times i look at this i cant get over it. i put it on my favs list and everything.. its jus incredible. that shirt...omg... i dont even begin to comprihend the amount of time put into it and the hair...its sooo....sooo.... Floofy! her char looks fun... like a tease or something. lol. altho i kinda agree with you... the skin is the only thing that needs work...the tones dont fade together, its almost plastic looking. but even with that it looks awsome. *pats on the back*

Obey my command!!! FEAR ME!! Do as I say! I Pwn you!!! OMG GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!!!
i jus thought of something... take it into fireworks MX and use the blur tool or smudge tool on the arms and skin where the colors change and it will give it a more soft faded realistic look. jus a thought.....
