The hardest part about being a brilliant geneticist whose lifelong ambition has been to turn yourself into something highly unique might not be the actual doing of it it just might be trying to get past security at the research firm where you work without anybody noticing you're no longer human.

__________________________________________

So this was like four hours tinkering with a mouse and CorelDRAW. I had the idea one morning a few days ago, and finally decided to actually try to draw it today. And while I'm not sure her bob hairstyle works, I still kinda like the idea of the picture, even if the execution needs a little work.

*shrug* As usual, crappy hands are crappy. I should probably concentrate more on those things when I draw, but, eh, see if I care. You're lucky to get an image where the lines are clean and non-overlapping, much less hands and a background ;)

(I also figured it'd be good to give everybody something new, since you've all been waiting (wading?) through the "blast from the past" series. This is proof that I actually have learned something since those old days, although I'm still far from an expert.)

LOL, the itchi bitsey spider tried to sneak away, out came the guard and she hid away, oh the itsey bitsey spider is gonna try again. :D

Awesome work! Great detail on her expression and body.

Her other problem - aside from losing her labcoat (nah, that's not a problem, is it?) that her new body might not fit through the door.

But her situation is true of anyone- what happens when you reach your lifelong ambition and you get it?

Do you remember Iningo Montoya from Princess Bride? "I've been in the revenge buisness so long I'm beginning to lose confidence. There's not much money in revenge."

I don't think she lost it; I'm pretty sure that was in the, "Oh, I probably shouldn't be wearing anything while I transform" category, and she just hasn't put it back on yet.

And no, I'm not all that sure what happens when you reach your lifelong ambition, since I'm still figuring mine out ;)

One of your very best image/story combinations. One wonders what her new body, and its new chemical balance and requirements will do to her life.

Heh, glad you like it so much. I didn't really think it was that spectacular, myself. ^^;

You did the nervous human and the nervous spider so well in the same figure. The next challenge would be her attempt to hide her exit--a long coat, and a dolly full of cardboard boxes to hide her lower body from the cameras... with the ends of her new legs JUsssssst visible under the bed of the dolly...

Why not have her grit her teeth as she peaks around the corner- tense that someone will see her? She's obviously nervous that she'll get caught, so add a little more expression in her face.

Driders = meh. :bored:

I can just see the guards in the central security office chuckling as they watch her trying to sneak out of the building.

She's what Joe, the 3rd or 4th this year? Or the favorite, "not again".

Actually, I kinda figured she was the first: She's had a crazy ambition all her life to be a drider, and started working here so she'd have access to the right equipment to pull it off. I'd like to think she did this in her off hours, but somehow, it looks like it's about 10:00 AM to me ;)

In either case, it would still make for a fun story as she tries to escape "unnoticed" and make her way home. I just hope she's thought out the other elements of her new life. Although from a story telling point of view, it could be more fun watching her come to terms with what she has done to herself.

As for the time of day....

I can see the playful fun of her thinking, it should have taken longer. The idea being, she would have completed her changes at home avoiding this problem.

Near as I figure it, the only part she thought out was the whole "turn me into a drider" part. I'm pretty sure that everything after that was dropped on the floor, and she's only now realizing that maybe she should've planned at least a little more of it. As a scientist myself, I know how easy it is to get into the tunnel-vision trap of just solving the immediate problem first, without realizing that there's sometimes much bigger considerations.

But she's a smart cookie; she'll probably figure something out ;)

Hopefully she will also figure out what to do about the dreaded 10:00am munchies. Suddenly, what would a drider eat, is no longer an idle question.

Wouldn't that be an awkward situation to get into. Intresting, but awkward.
