Pretty Girl - WIP by phantom-inker Pretty Girl - WIP by phantom-inker
I got the urge to draw a pretty centauress last weekend, just sitting and being pretty, so here's Penelope, my pretty manga-style Fantasia-esque centauress doing what she does, which is sitting and being pretty. This is very much a work-in-progress; I'd like to do a really slick colored finished version of her at some point and maybe even have her as my "featured" work on the front page.

There's really gotta be a better storyline for her somewhere.

But for now, you can enjoy the "rough" version.

See? I'm not dead yet :)

I like this picture, it's just sort of, simple. I found her eyes in the background are really well done as well. The only thing I have against this picture is that (to me anyways) her horse's body and her human body are slightly out of proportion. When I look at it it seems like she almost has a stallions body when it should be pony sized. But thats my opinion and it's your picture, just thought I'd put my two cents in.

I'm looking forward to the final version, it should be good.

A nice start! Like the detail of her body, and all this picture really needs is a background. :D

Here is one thing that I just can't do without a million references. I can't draw horse parts to my liking and you made them look so simple! -Seeker

Heh, well, it takes me a lot of tweaking and twisting and moving to get everything "just right." I probably spent two full hours getting the lines of her barrel and legs in the right places, to say nothing of the time spent on her face and her tail.

Just keep practicing, and keep references around until you don't need them anymore. I still use references from time to time: I needed one for this to get her nearest foreleg and lower pectoral muscles shaped correctly. It didn't look like this for the rest of the picture, but I still needed it for one leg and a few muscles.

Just keep practicing, Seeker. You'll get it with enough practice.

She's not cute, she's beautiful, stunning even. I can't wait to see the final product, it is going to be wonderful, based on your past work.

I was shooting for "naturally beautiful," not cute or sexy, just pretty, a sort of girl-next-door "simple" prettiness, and I think I got that.

Or maybe to put it a better way in cliché movie terms: She's not that hot sexy girl the protagonist is trying to get a date with; she's the pretty girl he doesn't realize he has feelings for, but by the end of the movie ends up marrying. She's intended to be that kind of pretty, I think, not the "sex-bomb" kind of pretty (which frankly I find kinda ugly), but just the sort where you want to be around her because it's such a pleasant environment.

Or something like that, at least.

She's cute! Ever thought of doing equitaurs?

No. If you'll notice, I don't draw furries either. I prefer drawing creatures with a human face, and equitaurs don't qualify.
