Well, so for the sake of entertainment value, a friend let me play with his copy of the animation program Moho, and this is what I came up with. Took about two days of playing with it to get it right, but I think the result is pretty good.

She's galloping. No, I don't know who she is or why she's galloping. If you want to write up a story for her, feel free.

Mature-rated because she's anatomically correct.

Wow, that was quick! ;-)

This looks a LOT more natural. Arms still not looking correct, though.

Just remember that the sheet muscles in the flanks and haunches bunch and flex as the hind legs move, but other than that, very nice!

Seems to me that the right-side hoofs hit one the other...
Am I right?

You think so? I thought there was almost too much bounce already >.>

The lateral bounce is good. But being graced with generous bosoms, and also being a horseback rider... Trust me, there's lots of vertical up&down motion too. ::hee hee::

I find it fasinating, more for the arms and legs, and sheer motion of it, though it's kinda fun to watch the bouncy parts too :D )

I don't know how spot on the motion is compaired to an actual horses galop, but it works nicely.

Thanks! I tried hard to get the motion right; there's a few spots that aren't quite perfect, but overall it's pretty close. I used several references to get the actual gallop motion right, so that should be good, except for the spot at the front of her lower chest that isn't moving up and down as much as it should.

The better animation that I did was the walking centauress; in that one, the action is far more believable, although there's less moving around.

I should probably do a trot and a canter at some point ^^;

Yeah, that was kinda done on a crazy whim. Somebody over on FA suggested it, so I figured, hey, why not, and made that "updated version" in about fifteen minutes. It's odd how many people liked the result >.>

Hee hee, well, they, er, would bounce.

I used some horse-galloping references to get the position of the legs and the rise and fall of the motion just right. The rest of it, well, I just kinda guessed.

That said, I still think the walking centauress animation I did was a better one; her body moves more naturally there. But this one is still fun :)

yeah, just harder to get the galloping right, thats why i commented on this one, cause a horses legs will move independently in a gallop with a 4 beat. but just a 2 beat in a walk when legs move together diagonally.

both are really cool though, first animations i've seen of centaurs walking/galloping. :)

The biggest complaint I had with this one is that I didn't actually have her bouncing in this one like I did with walking (and I'm not referring to her chest): If you took a pin and stuck it into her body right near her forelegs, you'd notice that her body isn't moving up or down there at all, while a real horse's body does move up and down a bit there. The legs are right, but the body isn't, which is why I like the walking one better.

oh yeah, i can see what you mean now. its still very well done though, and you did make her run before she could walk, so its still a great effort :)

I should probably do a trot and a canter. I haven't done those yet, and they're fun actions.

You got the legs down really well! I think her upper arms need to move a little more naturally at the elbow. Then again, it's a pain making something mythological move "naturally". LoL!
