I honestly don't know what happened to Josie here. It's pretty obvious that she's half scorpion. Beyond that, it's hard to say. Was she always like this, and fell in love with a human boy? Was she recently transformed? I don't really know.

I had this idea ages ago, and I've been trying to draw a decent scorpion-taur girl for a while now — Josie here is my third attempt — but I didn't have much more than "scorpion-taur" and "shy" when I started it. I started drawing it about two months ago, and finally gave her decent hands before posting her. I realize scorpions have eight legs, but somehow, she looked better with six when I drew her.

Poor thing. Looks like she really needs a little cheering up.


Challenge! Give her a story! She needs a good story of some kind. Use your creativity! If I get more than ten story ideas suggested in comments — just write a short paragraph — I'll pick the best one and it'll become her official story!

  • ~Xweetara: Josie lives out in the desert, rescuing lost hikers, which she herself once was before an accident changed her life.

  • ~Jonat: Josie was once a spoiled pretty girl, cursed by a witch for wanting to be even prettier, until the curse should be broken by true love.

  • ~darkelemental1: Josie was always a scorpion girl. She feel in love over the internet, and this was the first real-life meeting with her boyfriend.

The LOOK on her face..!

ASSUMING I wouldn't get stung DEAD, I'd want to give her a hug... :)

I'd go for darkelemental1's take...If she was BORN a scorpion girl, she'd logically have a scorpion family...Which COULD make things...interesting...for her new boyfriend...
And would make that Earth MORE interesting...(With MORE than JUST humans...)
If ANYTHING, the boyfriend would have at LEAST 2 BIG reasons to keep his libido in firm check at all times...as her Mom & Dad would be likely be WATCHING him very CAREFULLY... 0_0;;;;

She could be a product of the change...but i bet that that explanation is a bit overused, so maybe she...i dont really know...maybe she is teh daughter of the egyptian scorpion goddess serquet? or something to do with that goddess?

oh wait, nevermind dammit a lot of suggusteons relating to serquet/serket have already been suggested, my idea wasn't so original after all, but i didnt steal it from those other people.

Nice pic.

Incidentally, scorpion people appear in ancient Mesopotamian mythology, where they are called Girtablilu. There is also an ancient Egyptian goddess called Selket who is part scorpion.
Perhaps your characters story could involve a "mythological beings are real" type of scenario, and she could be descended from scorpion people of the ancient Near East.

Well, I'll be darned, they actually have a name, the Girtablilu, created by Tiamat to wage war and stand guard outside the gates of Shamash. Now I have plenty of interesting ideas for future stories for them. Thanks for the info!

I've long been fascinated with ancient mythology, and have familiarised myself with various mythological creatures, including ones that aren't all that well known (e.g. the Girtablilu).
