I don't have a story for this; it was just an emotion that needed to be drawn, and I finished it off today. Several people have suggested stories, but I think I'd rather let the picture speak for itself. I had a name for her, and I lost it. I never came up with a good name for him.
(You're welcome to suggest storylines if you want. I don't think there's likely to be an official story for them, but you never know: If you inspire my muse, you never know what might happen.)
This is titled "You're Not Alone," and if you hear strains of the music from FFIX playing, you're not alone either. I had the piano version of the soundtrack playing on infinite loop while I was drawing. FFIX wasn't my most favorite Final Fantasy game, but it had one of the best soundtracks, hands-down. Nobuo Uematsu for the win
Anyway, I hope you enjoy them!
(If you would like to color them, I can make a high-resolution version of the lineart available. I don't know if I will color them myself, but if you'd like to color them, just Note me.)
Update! I remembered the name I gave her. I named her "Faith." I still don't have a good name for him, though; although we bandied around many — particularly tree-like names like "Cedar" and "Ash" — none seemed to stick.
Well, the sweater suggests she's recently transformed; perhaps (looking at the background) she and her (old) boyfriend were on vacation....... A local witch falls for him, and puts a curse on her to eliminate the competition?
But of course it has a happy ending, as we see.... 7@=e
Oddly enough, in my World of Zekira history, there's at least a couple people born with limbs like these, and all the specific weirdness that would follow. Finding out that you're not the only one of "your kind" would be such a relief.
Frequently, they're cecaelia. ...or octopus mermaids(men). Or octogirls(guys). Or octomaids(men). The jury's still kinda out on the name, so just go with what you like the best.
"Suh - kay - lee - uh" is the easiest way to spell it out the first time. "Suh - kayl - yuh" is a better pronunciation, since it drops an unneeded syllable.
My only worry with this: If I were a cecaelia, I would not wear sweaters like that. Then again, part of me has a bit of idea that cecaelia live underwater. Eh, I'm overthinking it. Good work.
